An Eye on Algebra:
Math for Young Scientists (6th, 7th & 8th Grade)
date: July 8-11, 2024
Cost: $240
Lunch Included!
Age Group: Boys and Girls Entering 6th, 7th & 8th
Time: 9 am-1 pm
The camp will promote summer learning success with hands-on discovery activities and technology-rich experiences. STEM is the interdisciplinary and applied approach to science, technology, engineering, and math within a curriculum-based framework that engages students in authentic, meaningful learning environments. Campers will have a blast conducting experiments, exploring their creativity, and challenging their critical thinking skills. Math will come to life right before their eyes!
Math and science work together to help us understand the world. In a fun and interactive manner, this camp will focus on using pre-algebra and algebra in science. To see these connections, a series of engaging experiments will be conducted in which students see hands-on the process through which mathematics helps construct meaning from scientific data. Students will see their data being taken to the next level of scientific inquiry and find that mathematics is an integral part of understanding the physical world by building roller coasters, seismographs, Newtonβs cradle, and lifeboats to explore scientific notation, graphing, dimensional analysis, and algebraic variables in density and Newtonβs Laws.
